Diet Tips
Follow a Plan
Develop a plan or follow an existing diet program on the market to help keep you on course. Your new diet plan is also your new lifestyle so follow it closely.
Mix Up Your Exercises
Many people trying to lose weight stick to one single type of exercise, such as running or walking. This will soon get old and you will find yourself struggling to 'get up in the morning and jog'. Mix things up by doing different types of exercises. Jog one morning, do a full body workout with dumbbells the next morning, use the stair climber the next etc. By varying your activities you will come to look forward to the next exercise and the challenge ahead.
Be Consistent
This is where many dieters fail. They eat good and exercise for a couple of weeks and don't see immediate results so they start slacking. You have to have a routine and schedule and stick to it. It may be weeks or months before you see real results, so plan on changing your lifestyle and mind set to prepare for this.
Allow Yourself a 'Cheat Meal'
Eating clean and healthy every day all day can contribute to 'slacking' as we have talked about before. You have to fight the cravings and think about what you put into your body. You need good solid nutrition to fuel your workouts and to build muscle.
Having said that, we recommend that you schedule out a cheat meal that is planned every week. For this cheat meal you can eat whatever you like. The benefit of doing this is you will have something to look forward to and it will curb your cravings after you eat. Believe it or not, once you start eating clean on a consistent basis, your 'cravings' for bad food will eventually decrease, as your body realizes it does not need them anymore. The cheat meal at this point is just a bonus, and you don't even have to utilize it. The cheat meal may also act to 'kick start' your metabolism to try and burn the extra fat it is not used to as well.
Track Your Progress
By charting your diet plan you can track your progress and see if you need to adjust your diet at any time. You can keep track of your nutritional goals, and also keep track of your exercises, such as weightlifting, and raise weights as you get stronger.
Once you have enough data about your diet plan, you can easily see if you are on target to meet your goals in the timeline you have established.
Don't Go It Alone
Have a support system in place such as your family or friends as you start your new diet. A training partner is a huge benefit, as they can push you when exercising and help with motivation. An ideal situation would be to have a friend that you can start a diet plan with, with identical goals in mind. You can push each other and even compete to see who can lose the most weight.
Believe In Yourself
Without the desire to achieve your weight loss goals, it will be hard to get there. As you begin dieting, and start to see the results, it should push you to keep with it and follow through. As with any major challenge in life, you will have to dig deep inside yourself and find the strength to succeed. By following some of these tips we have given, things will be easier and you will have a great chance to lose the weight.
